“Serving as an Online Marketing Officer while concurrently participating in the Amsterdam Career Days as a student was a pivotal milestone in kick-starting my career. Beyond developing marketing strategies and driving significant growth in audience engagement, this role allowed me to cultivate essential skills in stakeholder management, collaboration, and event facilitation for one of the largest career events in the Netherlands. The dynamic environment taught me to thrive under pressure, balance diverse stakeholder expectations, and, most importantly, build meaningful industry connections. This experience became the foundation of my professional journey, leading to an internship at ING in Corporate Communication for ING Analytics, and ultimately to my current role at KPMG, where I specialize in AI Program Management, UX/UI design, and facilitate workshops at the KPMG Insights Center."
"As an ACD participant I think speaking to so many companies helps so much to orientate yourself and also gives you a competitive edge in terms of recruitment since you speak to recruiters directly and it helps you gain inside knowledge about what they are looking for and really helps to prepare for the further step of recruitment. People always think it’s just about orientation but if you know what you want to do and which company or position ACD can take you to the next step. In my case, went to ABN AMRO's presentation and then approached them at the company fair. I had good questions I prepared so they gave me crucial advice and referred me which definitely is the reason how I got the position! Overall, with ACD you can definitely expand your network not only with companies and the industry but also with like-minded students. So the event will always have a positive effect on your career and future no matter what, and I would definitely recommend it for all students!"
"Hello, my name is Varsha! I'm an international student from Dubai currently in my final year of Economics and Business Economics Bachelors at the University of Amsterdam. ACD is one of the biggest career events for students in the Netherlands and as someone who is looking to pursue a career in the financial world, it seemed like a great opportunity to expand my professional network. With ACD, I was able to get the consulting internship position at Regnology Netherlands. While I was following the coffee workshop and company presentation, I reached out to them and learned more about the company. The recruitment involved a 2 stage interview process after which I was offered my position and signed the contract for the same!
While the formal presentations and cases definitely help in giving me a great insight into the various partner companies, I think the best part of ACD are the more informal social networking events where you can have interesting chats with people in the industry and learn more about available career opportunities. Last but not least, one tip that I could give you is "Don't be afraid to put yourself out there!" The main point of this event is to give you the platform to get in touch with various industry professionals so make the best use of this opportunity and network, network, network!"
"My name is Anel Dudkina. Last year, I attended ACD to find a working student opportunity. I was happy that the 2024 ACD event included marketing companies. I attended the CV-based wine-tasting event with Publicis Groupe. As a marketing enthusiast with a wide range of experience, I knew that I needed to make the most out of this event. I got to know the recruiters and told them about myself and what I was looking for. The recruiter told me that something might be available, so she confirmed with the team that was looking for a working student. We looked over my CV and scheduled the first interview in the next few days, with the manager and a team member. After the interview, I was given an offer to join the team! In April 2024, a month after ACD, I started my journey at Publicis Groupe. After finishing my student contract, I was given an offer to continue my journey at the company!
This was my second ACD, and I highly recommend it. You can network with recruiters and make lasting friendships with fellow students. My advice: attend with clear goals and a strong interest in your industry to land your dream job!"
